I've been asked to write a lot lately about "What Cancer Taught Me." In thinking about my answers, I am recalling how isolated one can feel when traversing challenging times, especially if they pretend to be okay when the internal landscape is far from copacetic. I spent over a decade completely disconnected from and in denial of my pain, trauma and hurt caused by cancer and its aftermath. Relief, love and life only began to return when I stopped pretending everything was fine and faced the depth of emotional backlog. From there, I found freedom and presence, but the process is ongoing. With so much awry in the world in this moment, one thing I am remembering to do is to stay away from denial and to ride the emotional waves through to the shore. Only then can I tap into right action and feel like myself in doing so. This is one of cancer's most profound lessons, even if I was slow on the uptake to embody its wisdom. {Stay tuned for more on this topic} #lastcutproject #truth #freedom#realtalk
