Someone close to me once asked, “Are you always going to wear black?” My response was to change. I started wearing lots of color and shoes with platforms and heels. I even grew my hair long. I became a stranger in my own life in order to please another. Then, I began to recall what makes me happy and what makes me feel like me. I altered my ways and again started wearing black all the time. If asked today, “Are you always going to wear black?” I’d happily and confidently say, “Yes.” You do you. I’m doing me. Wouldn’t life just be so much richer and easier if we all just showed up as ourselves? It’s easy to make decisions for others, but when we start to notice where we unhealthily defer to others and make some shifts, we can push great change in our lives.
