Last Cut Project founder Sam Paige was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at age 21, and subsequently the BRCA 1 genetic mutation. They spent the majority of their 20s in and out of emergency rooms, facing crippling PTSD, chronic migraines, and debilitating panic attacks.

Following the birth of their daughter, Sam began taking steps forward in their life, undergoing a preventive double mastectomy with breast reconstruction and seeking help to unravel years of trauma. Thus began a period of “last cuts,” or significant life changes, to create a life that felt more like their own. Desiring to feel at home with their body and self, regardless of the aesthetic outcome, Sam elected to “go flat” and remove the silicone implants they’d elected with a preventive double mastectomy. Since, they have been vocal about that choice, regularly speaking on how best to navigate life's inevitable challenges and opportunities.

Last Cut Project’s mission is to shatter stereotypes and create a new paradigm for individual potential and growth. With Sam’s guidance, Last Cut Project has emerged as  a positive, action-oriented, community dedicated to inspiring more connected, risk-taking, inclusive relationship to ourselves and others.

LCP cultivates this conversation both digitally through the LCP Storyteller initiative, Last Cut Conversations podcast, and in-person events. We are available for workshops and speaking engagements and have recently been a part of the Girlboss Rally, CYCLES + SEX, Get Lit Literati, and more.
